Why does LGInternational use Macintosh in the Art Department? I have a PC!
We can also accept your PC artwork. We primarily use the Apple Macintosh system for artwork because the "Mac" is the existing standard for professional printing.

Which file format is best for submitting artwork?
Artwork should be provided in one of the following print ready formats: Adobe Illustrator (.ai), Adobe Portable Document File (.pdf), Corel Draw (.cdr), Encapsulated Postscript (.eps), or Macromedia Freehand (.fh).

What is an .EPS file?
EPS stands for "Encapsulated Post Script". Consult your software documentation regarding how to output this type of file. Simply changing another type of file extension to ".eps" will not work.

How about using Microsoft Word?
Microsoft Word was never designed as a graphics program. It can cause problems with fonts and graphics. It is therefore not the best choice for artwork that must be printed on a press.

CleanMark®

What sizes are available?
All potential configurations are available, including rectangles, circles and ovals, plus multiple labels to form sets. Labels can be supplied on rolls, pinfed, perforated, fanfolded and supplied in sheet format.

What kind of label materials do you use?
We offer a variety of synthetic facestocks, including polypropylene and polyester. These films offer improved dimensional stability, strength, cleanliness and outgassing properties as compared to polyolefin and other synthetic films. We offer a variety of improved release liner constructions.

How about adhesive?
We offer a variety of adhesive constructions that exceed the demanding needs of the semiconductor and disk drive industries.

What about chemical properties?
Facestocks are inert to most acids, gases and salts, and are as strong wet as dry. They are dimensionally stable between 0% and 100% relative humidity at constant temperatures.

Temperature ranges?
Service temperature range is -40º to 250ºF. Custom materials are available for severe temperature applications.

What kind of printing can be done by the customer?
A variety of stock material surfaces are available for thermal transfer, direct thermal, dot matrix, ink jet, laser and cleanroom pens.

How about packaging?
CleanMark® labels are offered with several choices of packaging depending upon the degree of cleanliness required. Our highest level of clean labels are ultrasonically cleaned, both top and back surfaces and packaged in a Certified ISO Class 4 cleanroom. CleanMark® labels may be supplied on 3-inch ID synthetic cores and double bagged in Certified Silicone Free MDPE Nitrogen Purged bags. Roll or package size is customer specified.

What sizes are "standard"?
All of our labels are custom to a specific customer's specification.

How much lead-time is required?
Lead-time for most parts is between 8 to 10 working days.

Do your labels contain silicone?
There is no silicone in either our facestock or adhesive. We also have three different silicone-free liners from which to choose.

What types of inks do you use?
We use water-based acrylic ink created for flexographic presses. We also have silicone-free inks available.

Do you have any chemical data available for your labels?
Our main products have GC/MS outgassing test results available on each respective data sheet.

What is a "class 10" label?
A "class 10" label is a label that has gone through the CleanMark® cleaning process for particle removal. In addition they have been produced from clean materials (i.e. synthetic, not paper, liners, and clean facestocks). There are several different levels of cleanliness available depending upon your requirements.

What is the shelf life of your adhesives?
Generally adhesives have a shelf-life of 18 to 24 months.

How many labels come on a roll?
The quantity of labels contained on a roll is dependent on the size of the label and the specific application. The customer usually specifies the quantity.

Label & Nameplate

Is LGI UL & CSA approved?
Yes! LGI maintains up-to-date approvals for many label constructions. We can also help the customer through the UL and CSA approval process for any new label constructions that have not yet been submitted. For more information, visit our Certifications page.

Can LGI produce barcodes or sequential numbers?
LGI has the capability to produce sequential numbers using Alphanumeric, Code 39 and other standard barcodes, as well as any variable information.

What does LGI need as far as artwork is concerned?
LGI will produce the art or use customer-supplied artwork. We maintain the most recent versions of all major graphics software on both Macintosh and PC platforms. See our Art Tips page for more information.

What colors are available at LGI?
LGI can match any color needed by the customer to fit the process being used as well as the label application considered. We utilize a spectrophotometer for precise color matching. Color matching is not required if one of our standard colors can be used.

Can LGI assist in engineering a new label construction?
Yes. We have collaborated with customers to design several new label constructions that have gone on to receive UL969 and CSA recognition.

Digital Printing

What substrates can be digitally printed?
Just about any substrate you need. Paper, foil, polyester, polycarbonate, polypropylene, and many other natural and synthetic materials may be coated for digital printing.

Can the labels be die cut?
Yes, they can, by utilizing our advanced in-line die cutting equipment as well as our large selection of existing cutting dies.

Is the print quality equal to offset?
In most cases, yes. Of course, different substrates will affect quality slightly. In some cases, the quality will exceed offset because no trapping is needed.

How about short press runs?
Short and medium-sized runs are digital printing's specialty.

How about turn around time?
Actual lead time will vary, depending on specific label and material requirements, but with digital printing's minimal make-ready, 24 hours is entirely possible.

Is artwork preparation help available?
It most definitely is. We can produce art from scratch or help you design your own artwork. Our expert designers are skilled in pre-press techniques that ensure a smooth digital press run.
